Rotary was founded in Chicago in 1905 by a small group of businessmen interested in networking and growing their businesses. It soon became apparent to them that their meetings would have more purpose if they could collectively serve the public good. In 1906 Rotary's first service project, a public restroom, opened in Chicago. Since then, Rotary has spread around the world. There are now approximately 1.2 million Rotarians In 31000 clubs located in 167 countries. Visit www.rotary.org to learn more of what Rotary does and has done for over 100 years.
